Joan Louise Wessling

Joan Louise Wessling was born on September 28, 1959 to Paul and Ruth (Davis) Wessling. She departed this life on March 10, 2016 at 11am at the Mitchel County Hospital Health Systems.
She was a lifelong member of the St. John’s Catholic Church. Joan’s education began at the Christian Church Special Needs school, started by Velva Riley in the late 1960’s. She progressed so successfully that in 1978 she began employment at OCCK in Beloit, giving over 35 years of dedicated service. She made many friends and never knew a stranger.
She will be remembered for her winning smile, sunny disposition and infectious giggle, as well as her firm belief that everything should be in order at any given time.She holds many awards and medals from her years of participation in the Special Olympics. Her favorite hobbies and interests included dancing, bowling, and coloring, cutting coupons, swimming and folding clothing like a professional.
Joan and her mother were members of the Anthropological Association and they enjoyed many outings and adventures with lifelong friend, Arvilla Heiman.
Joan is preceded in death by her mother and father, Uncle Lynn Davis and brother-in-law, Mike Gray. She has left to morn her passing, her Aunt Marvella Davis, siblings: Roger (Ardella) Wessling, Rose (Harry) Mattous, Dave (Pam) Wessling and Dan Wessling. Nieces and nephews include; Nichole (Roger) Stephens, Jill (Adam) Stubbs, Tara (Chris) Pruitt, Patrick (Lyndsay) Gray, Natalie (Jason) Lucas, Sandra Wessling and fiancé Jake Nielson, Heather (Jameson) Hooton, and Morgan Wessling as well as 16 great nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 3-7 p.m. Sunday March 13th at Schoen Funeral Home and Monuments. Rosary Service to begin at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church Monday March 14th. Internment at St. John's Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Beloit OCCK Regional Office.
