Glen Elder

Lynn Ransford Root, passed away on August 31, 2026, at home in Glen Elder. He was born on August 19, 1983, in Omaha, Nebraska. He was the son of Mary and Earl Root. He grew up in Holdrege and graduated from Holdrege High School in 2001. Lynn will be remembered as a loving husband and father, a devoted son, and a man whose quick wit and sarcastic sense of humor brought laughter to those around him.

Lynn moved to Beloit in 2003, this is where he met his wife Lisa. Lynn and Lisa were married April 28, 2007 in Beloit at the Zion Lutheran Church. They had two children, Hunter and Hadley. They moved to Glen Elder in 2015 where they made their home. Lynn worked as a network technician with Cunningham Fiber beginning in 2009. He was someone who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures and especially loved hunting, fishing, and cooking. He was known for his quick wit, his love for his family, and the way he shared himself so fully with the people closest to him. He loved to cook, and those who knew him will remember both his humor and the care he showed at home. Among the things that meant the most to Lynn were his children, Hunter and Hadley, who were his proudest accomplishments.

Above all, Lynn treasured his family. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Root, of the home; his son Hunter Root and his daughter Hadley Root, both of the home; his mother, Mary Root, of Holdrege, NE; his sister Lori Vinzant, together with Josh Vinzant and their children, Kellan and Kennan, of Bertrand, NE; his parents-in-law, Sheila and Greg Wagner, of Beloit; and his brother-in-law Jason Wagner, together with Shannon Wagner and their children, Alexandria and Brooklyn, of Concordia. He leaves behind many loved ones who will carry his memory forward with affection and gratitude.

Lynn was preceded in death by his father, Earl Root; his grandparents, Lorraine Garcey, Jim Garcey, Gordon Root, and Lois Root.

Lynn’s life was centered on the people he loved most. He will be deeply missed for his humor, his warmth, his love of the outdoors, and the pride he took in his family. His memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
