Marcia Gwen (James) Christie

Marcia Gwen Christie (Gwen) of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, June 19th, 2019, at Jefferson City Manor. She was born July 3rd 1938, in Beloit, Kansas, the daughter of the late Harry James and Margaret James. Gwen was a 1956 graduate of Beloit High School. She was united in marriage on August 4, 1956, in Asherville, Kansas, to John Howard Christie, who preceded her in death, May 2018. She was a member of the Dalhart and Wagoner Baptist Churches. An avid golfer and bowler and in high school, a ranked tennis player. Wherever they lived, she was very active in her church, community, with years volunteering for CASA.

Survivors include;  sister Diane Knorr; five sons, Kenneth Alan (Lorene) Christie, Pineville, La.; Lynn Dean (Melanie) Christie, Jefferson City; Sheldon Lane (Tammy) Christie, Wagoner, Okla.; Dwight Donald (Deborah) Christie, Mentor, Kan.; Jay Charles Christie, Charlottesville, NC.; 12 grandchildren, Allison Christie, Terrel Christie, Michael Christie, Jeffrey Christie, Elyse Wrigley, Kaylee Christie, Madison Christie, Tanner Christie, John Christie, Brooke Christie, Caleb Christie, Seth Christie; and five great-grandchildren, William Wrigley, Gaia Christie, twins Peter Christie and Penelope Christie, and Quinten Wyckwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister Yvonne Hauck.

Visitation will be 1:30, Sunday, June 23rd, at Schoen Funeral Home and Monuments. A Memorial Service will follow with Pastor Creighton Cox officiating. Interment of ashes will be at Scottsville Cemetery, Scottsville, Kansas following the funeral services.
