Obituary

Marjorie L Reinert, May 11, 1934 - December 13, 2025

Born the first of four children to Joseph and Florence Zimmer. She grew up on a farm outside of Beloit. She met and later married Laurence Reinert on May 4, 1957. Lived on a farm by Tipton, Kansas and moved to Downs in 1963 where they ran the Downs Sales Barn and began expanding their farming operation.

Marge was actively involved in her children’s lives. She prepared countless meals and loads of laundry for her family of seven, baked on a daily to weekly basis, sewed, quilted and maintained numerous uniforms and work clothes. She drove the trucks and made food during wheat harvests. Worked at the Nursing Home, cooked and baked at the local cafe. She was a Queen of Tops, leader of Altar Society, and enjoyed going to the casinos, and attending K-State football games with her partner in crime Carolyn Schmitt. She was famous for her cinnamon rolls, pies, and sweetness. When she knew you loved something she went above and beyond to get you the very thing you treasured. She put numerous miles on her vehicles to watch her kids/grandkids participate in sporting events. She also supported numerous fundraisers which included more than a decade of bake sales.

Marge’s greatest joys and love were her seven children, grandchildren, family, faith, and close friends. She loved making someone’s day special (and had numerous talents to pull it off whether it be finding or creating the perfect gift, showing up unexpectedly for an event, baking their favorite treat and was always up for a fun adventure). She enjoyed traveling, seeing new places and having adventures.

She was preceded in death by her husband Laurence, grandson Rusty Davis, sister and brother-in-law Janet and Don Schlatter, niece Sharon Cordel, and parents Joseph and Florence Zimmer..

She is survived by her sister Alberta (Ed) Cordel, brother Gerald (Terri) Zimmer, daughters Jeanne (Rick) Mans, Denise , Joann (Louis) Loveless, and Karen, sons Edgar, Charles, Arnold (Christine) granddaughters Bridgette Davis, Tracey (Brian) Brummer, Annie (Paul) Reichenberger, grandsons Brian (Michaela) Mans, Craig (Michele) Mans, Eric Mans (Sara Cook), Nick Reinert, along with 19 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

Arrangements are pending. Memorials may be made to St Mary’s Catholic Church or St John’s School Endowment in care of Schoen Funeral Home And Monuments, 1001 Morgan Ave. Downs, KS 67437.
