Frederick J. Cashman

Frederick (Fritz)  J. Cashman, 67, of Downs, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022. Fritz was born August 16, 1954 to Roderick (Rocky) J. and Enda Irene (Cavin) Cashman in Salina, KS.
Growing up, his family lived in Salina, Median Mines, MO, and lastly in Cawker City. Fritz died March 20, 2022 at his home in Downs. Fritz married Rita Edwards July 5th, 1975. To this union they were blessed with three sons: Frederick II, Tyson, and Travis. They divorced in 1987, but remained friends.
Fritz worked for Waconda Motors until they closed and then he drove semis with his brother Ted for a short time. He worked at the elevator in Downs until he had to take an early retirement.
Fritz was a Buck Sergeant in the Kansas Army National Guard 195th Maintenance Company in Phillipsburg, KS. He enjoyed racing with his dad and brothers and loved fishing, derby, and races.
Fritz married Roberta (Bert) June 1st, 1995. They made their home in Downs and enjoyed the Downs Celebration and Lions Club auction.
Fritz was proceeded in death by his wife Roberta, his par- ents, a baby sister, two brothers, and five grandchildren.
Fritz is survived by sons, Fred II (Angie) of Downs, Tyson of Osborne, and Travis (Amanda) of Abilene. Stepdaugh- ters, Alice (Danny) Bliss of Downs, Eva (Bill) Crawford of Bethany, OK. Grandchildren, Seth Loyd, Michael, Nicho- las, Jaxson, Alaiya, Cohen, Payson, and Gunner Cashman, Jessy (Alejandra) Bliss, Bobby (Madison) Bliss, all of Beloit, Barbara Crawford of Bethany, OK. Three great grandchildren: Haven, Adalym, and Asher. Sisters, Marj Vowinkel, Paula (Toby) Marlier, all of Cawker City. Brothers, Roderick “Bub” (Pat) of Belleville, Terry of Topeka. Uncle Doug Cash- man of Topeka. Many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Fritz will be greatly missed by family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Breast Cancer Foundation in Memory of Roberta Cashman.
